Yes, another article about distracted driving, this time from the CBC called, "Why driving and chatting is a bad idea". But you've heard this before - and you will again - until you understand that a distracted driver is a dangerous driver.

Here is a topic which I believe you haven't seen before. The link is to a PDF document called, "Crashes Induced by Driver Information Systems". It is a study regarding in-vehicle information systems. This topic has not been adequately addressed by any government involved with driver/vehicle safety.

Distracted driving issues are not going away. More driver education, and perhaps training (such as driver multi-task training like emergency services get), should be in the works in my opinion. Your future, and my future, may depend on it.

From the CBC comes this story about teen texting while driving. They actually think it's ok to do so. As if they have enough experience to deal with the unexpected at the best of times, what makes them think they could handle an unexpected situation while texting? Wow! Dumb! Dead!

This blog entry is only loosely related to driver education, but I thought you might find it interesting none the less.

Now this idea would probably work very well in Edmonton and Calgary. Especially if there were several payouts per day. Anyway, here is the link which explains it - scroll down to see the solution.
