First and foremost is the PDF document, 2009/2010 Office of Traffic Safety Communications Action Plan from Alberta Transportation. This covers many driving issues, including speeding and impaired driving.
From the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) we have the School Safety Patrol program. A manual called, Teacher/Supervisor Manual 2009-2010 is available to help all involved promote and ensure the safety of children acting as School Patrollers. An excerpt, "To instruct, direct, and control students in crossing the roadways at or near schools; and to assist teachers and parents in the instruction of school children in safe pedestrian practices at all times and places."
Another resource worth reading is the PDF newsletter results of the
Alberta XIII Conference Driving Home Safety: Community and Industry Working Together held in Edmonton November 18-20, 2008 and hosted by Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research and Alberta Transportation.
The newsletter also covers the improved GDL proposal due this year.
